Australian Manuka NPA 31+ is pure Australian Jellybush Honey. Tested at independent laboratories and guaranteed to be at least 31+ NPA this higher-rated honey is rich in flavor and one of our finest. High in minerals, antioxidants, and bioflavonoids, this potent antibacterial honey will help to enhance and protect your body’s own defenses. This active honey is an MGO1717 mg/kg rating.

Biosota produces some of the rarest and strongest Manuka honey in the world with greater amounts of methylglyoxal (MGO) and is guaranteed to be certified 100% organic. We take extra care in the placement of our hives and harvesting to ensure all our Manuka honey has a very high amount of its special antibacterial compounds.

Our honey has high levels of Non-Peroxide Activity (NPA) or Unique Leptospermum Factor (ULF), a rating system that compares its bacteria-killing strength to that of standard Phenol solutions. The higher the number the more antibacterial properties it has.

Australian Certified Organic honey must also meet strict requirements including the beehive locations kept a minimum of five kilometers away from any major highways, agricultural land, industry, or habitable developments. It must also be extracted to ensure it is kept below 45⁰c to guarantee all the good bacteria are maintained (also known as raw honey). Biosota guarantees our honey is produced and packed in a pollution-free environment and is handled with great care.

Achieving these extremely high grades and quality requires specific scientific and industry knowledge and careful collection which all go into making Biosota Manuka honey rare, distinct, and superior honey unlike any other in the world.

Most people, familiar with Manuka honey, think it comes only from New Zealand. This is completely inaccurate.

This impression is due mainly to the very strong marketing effort by the honey experts in New Zealand. They have done a great job in educating consumers about Manuka honey and its health benefits and we respect their effort and we send them our thanks.
The plant that the bees use to make Manuka honey grows in Australia as well as New Zealand and on this page, we will present information that will confirm this assertion. The Australian Government has made a number of studies. Here is some of the text of one important study.

Leptospermum scoparium (Manuka or Tea tree or just Leptospermum) is a shrub or small tree native to New Zealand and southeast Australia. It is found throughout New Zealand but is particularly common on the drier east coasts of the North Island and the South Island, and in Australia in Tasmania, Victoria, and New South Wales. Manuka (from Maori ‘manuka’) is the name used in New Zealand, and ‘tea tree’ is a common name in Australia and to a lesser extent also in New Zealand. This name arose because Captain Cook used the leaves to make a ‘tea’ drink. The common name “Tea Tree” is also shared with the related Melaleuca tree of Australia suggesting that both were used to make tea by Captain Cook.

Manuka honey, produced when honeybees gather the nectar from its flowers, is distinctively flavored, darker, and richer in taste than clover honey, and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. The finest quality Manuka honey with the most potent antimicrobial properties is produced from hives placed in wild, uncultivated areas with abundant growth of Manuka bushes.
